As we have continued to grow since 2004, one of our greatest achievements has been the career development of our staff team. The majority of our home managers joined as Support Worker or Senior Support Workers, progressing though to Management Trainees.
For us as a company, we believe in developing from within. A number of our employees are currently undertaking development programs to better their career with us, thus ensuring their future and our service(s). In order to develop their skills they have achieved the relevant qualifications required to move onto the next appropriate management qualification. They have also attended in house management training, supervision training and are working to their own personal development goals.
Not everyone aspires to become a home manager but may aim to become a Shift Leader or Senior Support Worker. Some Support Workers are very happy in their daily role but have welcomed opportunities to develop their skills and knowledge in other areas such as:
- Behavioural Support
- Person Centred Planning
- Activity Co-ordinator
- Fire Warden
- Food and Nutrition
- Visual and Signing Communication.
Every member of staff will be fully supported in the development of their knowledge, in house or externally as they work towards the relevant qualification as part of the Qualification Credit Framework.

Staff Competency Frameworks
As our staff’s personal development is very important to us, part of our development process is to ensure a Competency Framework document is available for all staff. This allows staff members to see what is required of them to be able to progress towards a suitable developmental role. Through appraisal and support from their line manager, they can tailor a personal development programme, along with adequate and required training to help them achieve this goal.
